Durham Festival of the Arts is an exciting 3 week festival running from 2nd – 23rd June, and the 2017 festival is set to be the biggest yet! The festival, organised by Music Durham and Durham Student Theatre, features a whole host of events from concerts to masterclasses, plays to photography exhibitions and so much more, in a number of venues across the city.
Particular highlights include the festival opening celebrations incorporating four main events: Land of Hope and Glory – a celebration of British music in Durham Cathedral; Around the World in 80 minutes – an evening of world music and food in Durham Castle; Arts on the Green – an afternoon of music on Palace Green; and The Canterbury Tales – a DST production in the Gala Theatre.
DFoA is for all of Durham to enjoy; with plenty of opportunities to get involved for students and the local community alike. With a number of strands including music, opera, theatre, comedy, workshops, there is something for everyone.
